Demi Lovato rushed to hospital after apparent heroin overdose

Demi Lovato has been rushed to hospital in LA after suffering what is thought to be a drug overdose, according to reports by TMZ. When they arrived at the singer's home she was reportedly treated with Narcan, which is an emergency treatment that is used for narcotic overdoses.

Lovato's shiny, happy pop music has become somewhat more personal in recent years - she'd sung about her bisexuality on the 2015 hit Cool For the Summer - but current single Sober is something else.

Lovato celebrated six years of sobriety in March, writing in a heartfelt Twitter post, "Just officially turned 6 years sober".

In Simply Complicated she admitted that the extent of her drug addiction was worse than most realised. The singer and actress made the reveal in a song titled Sober, which was released in June 2017. Her debut album Don't Forget sold over 500,000 copies, while the follow-up Here We Go Again debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200. Her condition is not known.

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres added: "I love @DDLovato so much". She and her team severed ties, and they played a large part in getting her sober years ago. She tweeted at Lovato, "I love you".

As Tuesday's news spread, fellow artists, including Ariana Grande, shared their support on social media.

Like Joe, Nick Jonas also commented on the situation, saying, "Like all of you I am reeling at the news about Demi". "Praying for her right now, addiction is a terrifying disease".
