Barcelona Hijack Roma's Big Summer Signing At Last Minute

The Catalan giants have agreed a deal with the French outfit and the winger has agreed a contract with them after his agent insisted that his client wanted a move to Roma.

Barcelona have secured the signing of Brazil star Malcom, despite an agreement having been reached with Roma.

He is, however, set to continue his development in Catalunya as he prepares to enter into a five-year deal.

Barcelona appear to have won the race to sign Malcom from Bordeaux, pipping Roma to his signature at the last minute.

Malcom, yet to be capped at senior level by Brazil, will arrive in Barcelona on Tuesday and undergo a medical the following day before joining the team on their United States tour.

With Kawhi forcing their hand, the Spurs had to make a trade in which they would receive a star in return to remain competitive. The reason for this is that if Kawhi Leonard decided not to play this season, he would be giving up his free agency next year.

John Solano reports that the Brazilian is closing in on a €41 million move, a deal that may see Willian stay at Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window.

He can play through the middle but is primarily a winger and he scored 12 goals last season to help Bordeaux to a sixth-placed finish, drawing attention from a number of European sides.

Barcelona praised him as a "daring, pacey forward with an ability to shoot from distance" who has "a great future ahead of him".

Barcelona however, took this as a sign to get their act together and they have moved incredibly quickly to steal Malcom from Roma's grasp.

Malcom first arrived in Europe in 2016, joining Bordeaux from Corinthians, where he won the Brazilian title, and made nearly 100 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.
