Jurgen Klopp already has his first injury concerned to contend with after Joel Matip had to come off on 22 minutes.

The 'competition, ' or group of random high profile friendlies, pit some of the best sides in Europe against each other and on Sunday night it gave us Borussia Dortmund vs Liverpool in the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Jürgen Klopp told his post-match press conference: "It's not the same injury".

"We will see, but we can not say anymore about it now".

On most days, that would be enough to be named the game's top performer.

The Merseyside giants might have to act fast, though, if they want to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield.

Of course, Karius took another barracking from Liverpool fans, largely online, as the "not fit to wear the shirt" diatribe continued in perpetuity.

Liverpool went close to restoring their lead in the 77th minute as Dominic Solanke played in Alberto Moreno with a delightful pass, but the latter saw his effort tipped wide.

"Of course that's not flawless for me, but I can not say much more about that either", Karius said of his status in Liverpool's squad, per The Telegraph. "I'm talking about him like so many other goalkeepers", the former Spain No. 1 wrote on Twitter.

Pulisic won a 66th-minute penalty that he converted himself, then grabbed an 89th-minute victor by finishing off a flowing Dortmund counter-attack.

And in stoppage time, Karius could only parry a soft shot from Christian Pulisic into the path of Jacob Bruun Larsen for Dortmund's third goal.

"We have to learn from it, that's how it is, and then we have to go again".

Things just aren't looking good for Loris Karius as the beleaguered Liverpool goalkeeper continues to lurch his way through pre-season.

Liverpool will fly to NY on Tuesday morning ahead of their second International Champions Cup game, when they will face Manchester City the following day.
