Americans give Trump negative marks for Helsinki performance

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said on Sunday that President Donald Trump's advisers should consider leaving the White House if Trump continues to publicly disparage the nation's intelligence community and cast doubt on the evidence that Russian Federation attempted to interfere in the 2016 election. Stephanopoulos asked Rice about an interview Trump did with CNBC Friday in which he said, "Obama was a patsy for Russian Federation".

But Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union" that he doesn't "have a problem with the president of the United States interacting with the president of the Russian Federation" as long as Trump remains "clear-eyed".

Rubio, calling Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega an "old man" and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, "crazy", said, "There is no future with them in power". Coats says his comments at event were not meant to be critical of the president's handling of the Helsinki summit.

Now with Pompeo heading the State Department, Coats has been thrust into the limelight as the voice of the intelligence community.

"I think you're going to see, and there's already work being done, to set a series of sanctions against individuals and entities in Nicaragua", Rubio said.

Rubio, a Republican who has been critical of Putin's tactics for years, said the president had no choice but to rescind his comments after the Helsinki news conference played out poorly. "It has been said, it has been discussed personally with the president, and I think it's time to move on".

'I and the entire intel (ligence) community are committed to providing the best possible intelligence to inform and support President Trump´s ongoing efforts to prevent Russian meddling in our upcoming elections, to build strong relationships internationally in order to maintain peace, denuclearize unsafe regimes and protect our nation and our allies, ' Coats added in his statement.

Kim Jong Un calls for unscheduled meeting of ambassadors
We have - we're just going through the process. "The Putin is involved in sense that Trump is with us", told by Mr Trump .

Schumer asked the reporters, "Where are the notes from the meeting?"

In an interview with CBS Evening News, which was released in part on Wednesday evening, Trump was asked whether he holds Putin personally responsible for the meddling in 2016.

According to Menendez, Trump should be challenging Putin "about violating global law... about the massacre that's taking place in Syria... about the annexation of Crimea, and say, 'we will never recognize the annexation of Crimea'".

"This idea that somehow we are not sure where our own president stands is deeply disturbing, and the best way to deal with that is to vote in November", she said to applause.

Talking to Putin about matters such as the civil war in Syria, Gowdy said, "is very different from issuing an invitation".

On Thursday, as the president tried to move on to domestic economic issues, the Russian Federation question was still drawing headlines around the world.

"Well, it's an easy, cheap shot to say the president's been compromised by the Russians", Bossert said.
