Sturgeon off the agenda on golf weekend | Scotland

In the run-up to his first visit as U.S. president, Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been celebrating the construction of a wind farm that the billionaire tycoon tried to stop because it spoiled the view from his resort.

After meeting the Queen at Windsor Castle on Friday and holding a meeting with Theresa May at Chequers, Mr Trump flew by Air Force One to Glasgow Prestwick Airport in Scotland for a two-day private stay at his famous golf resort.

Upon his arrival Trump was received by Scottish Secretary David Mundell, who said he was "pleased to greet Trump on behalf of the United Kingdom government". At the end of the week in which she had apparently left the door open for a possible meeting with the president, Ms Sturgeon was conspicuous by her absence.

Thousands of people have gathered in Glasgow's George Square to protest against Donald Trump's visit as he prepares to fly to Scotland.

"At the same time, we will not compromise our fundamental values of equality, diversity and human rights, and we expect these values to be made clear during the presidential visit to the UK".

When asked specifically about the response from Scotland he said: 'There is always a big disconnect between citizens and politicians.

Finally, we have to continue to expect production from Saudi Arabia, Russia and the rise. Supply to the USA market has also been squeezed by the loss of some Canadian oil production.

Trump said he had advised May to take a different strategy on Brexit, telling the tabloid: "I would have done it much differently".

In an uproarious trip to Europe, Trump harangued members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation military alliance, scolded Germany for its dependence on Russian energy and shocked Britain by publicly criticizing Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit strategy.

Trump said earlier this year that he "gets more exercise than people think" after his then-White House doctor recommended that he exercise more. By 8.30am, people were congregating by the police cordon around the resort carrying banners and placards, with thousands more expected to attend demonstrations across the country.

The US President has repeatedly praised the former Foreign Secretary and suggested they could see each other this week.

"I don't think anything will immediately make a change to Donald Trump".

Donald Trump has described Scotland as "incredible" as he starts his two days in the country. "I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn't agree, she didn't listen to me". Many more were expected to attend the national demonstration in Edinburgh on Saturday, which begins with a march from the Holyrood parliament past the USA embassy, and culminates in a family festival in the Meadows park, south of the city centre.
