She further remembered her father George VI, who became the first member of the Royal Family to qualify as a Royal Air Force pilot. It has not been confirmed who will join Her Majesty on the iconic viewpoint, but royal watchers are hoping Kate will make a second appearance.

Kate Middleton went with an icy blue dress by her go-to designer, Alexander McQueen, and a hat by Sean Barrett.

And as such the pretty piece of jewellery was given to the Duchess as a gift on her appointment. Later, Meghan and Harry will head to Dublin to begin their two-day whirlwind trip of Ireland.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the Abbey together with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with the Princes in their uniforms and Kate Middleton again sporting Alexander McQueen.
