Xherdan Shaqiri: Liverpool sign Stoke forward after triggering release clause

And now, according to Telegraph Reds are reported to have agreed a transfer fee for Switzerland's world cup hero, Xherden Shaqiri and the Swiss global is set to undergo medical on Friday.

Liverpool have completed the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke on a long-term contract.

The Swiss global has been a player on Liverpool's radar since 2014 and had his heart set on a move to Anfield when the club's interest first emerged this summer.

"I'm very happy to be here", he said.

Xherdan Shaqiri's mix of ability, attitude and potential ensured his signing made ideal sense for Liverpool, explained Jürgen Klopp.

When asked how that conversation might go, Trump said, "He may deny it". "I believe through strength you get peace", he said. He insisted it had been a "very good" summit because of the frank and open discussion it had hosted.

The former Basel star has played for Bayern Munich and Inter Milan so he has plenty of experience of top level football and he'll provide competition for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in attack this coming season. A few years ago I wanted to come too but it didn't happen. I'm really happy that now I'm finally here.

There has been interest in Shaqiri from a number of clubs, but Liverpool are set to win the race and will activate his release clause of around £13.75m rather than thrashing out a different fee.

Regardless, everything seems to be in place for Shaqiri to become Klopp's third signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of Naby Keita and Fabinho.

The Merseyside club say the transfer is worth £13 million. I think he could. We will want him to express himself but also learn and improve the areas of his game where he can still make progression. He gives us greater flexibility in how we can use our current players also.
