Armless transient man stabs tourist with scissors on South Beach

A homeless man with no arms has been arrested in Miami after he stabbed a tourist with a pair of scissors, according to police.

Crenshaw is reportedly a popular fixture in the area, known for painting on canvases near a trendy spot in South Beach. Crenshaw told officers he was lying down when Coronado punched him in the head, according to an arrest report obtained by the Miami Herald.

Crenshaw, however, says his actions were in self-defense.

Jonathan Crenshaw, 46, allegedly knifed the man on Miami's South Beach Tuesday, with his victim claiming the attack happened after a visitor from Chicago asked for directions.

Crenshaw was booked for battery charges on Tuesday night and his bond was set at $7,500, according to Miami-Dade Corrections.

China vows retaliation for latest USA tariff threat
US President Donald Trump ordered his government to prepare tariffs on a further US$200bn of imports from China on Monday. On Wall Street, futures for the Dow Jones industrial average and Standard & Poor's 500 index were up 0.4 percent.

To defend himself, the homeless man stabbed Coronado twice with the scissors, put them back into his waistband and then walked out.

Coronado was visiting the area with his friend from Chicago.

Police found Mr Coronado bleeding from his left arm and he was taken to hospital for treatment, the Miami Herald reported.

Police said there were no indications that Crenshaw was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. He is now being held on $7,500 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He has a court date set for July 18.
