They claim that they've got brilliant Wifi and that all spectators are entitled to privately and quietly watch the World Cup final on their phones but that they will not be changing the start time of 2pm.

Last Saturday, England made the semi-finals with victory over Sweden as action at Wimbledon took place.

Those who stuck around seemed to be more interested in following the action in Russian Federation on their electronic devices than watching the tennis match taking place in front of them.

Roger Federer has played down the prospect of a clash between the Wimbledon and World Cup finals by joking that football fans in Moscow will be distracted by the tennis.

"I´m more concerned the World Cup final will have issues because the Wimbledon final is going on", said the eight-time champion after seeing off France´s Adrian Mannarino in straight sets on Monday.

The rules of entry to the All England Club, which hosts the grass-court classic, state that ticket holders must turn off cellphones and electronic devices when in the stands.

"It's not unheard of for there to be a ripple of applause or a shout when something special happens in a football tournament, and I'm sure everybody will understand if it does".

Wimbledon organisers have confirmed to the BBC that Sunday's men's singles final will not be moved even if England do reach the Fifa World Cup final.

However, Lewis said he would have no objection if numerous 15,000 fans inside Centre Court wanted to follow the football on their devices - as long as they did not disturb the players.

Mobile phones and other devices can be used by the crowd, giving spectators the option of watching the World Cup final as well.

Though the World Cup is likely to draw a bigger TV audience, a lot of us would be disappointed to miss the Wimbledon final.

"Saturday was one of the most special days I can remember at the championships".

We had superb tennis going on and we were benefiting from modern technology where people were able to follow the football, enjoy it, without disturbing other people.

"I was out and about around the grounds and you could tell when England had scored".

Wimbledon's big screen hasn't shown any England games since Euro 1996.
