Trump visit latest: US president arrives in the UK

The tweet sparked a response from everyone including Theresa May and then Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who retweeted Trump's quote with the comment: 'I may disagree with claims made on that march but not ONE of them wants to live in a system where 28 million people have no cover.

Donald Trump has arrived in the United Kingdom for his first official visit since taking office.

"Donald Trump likes to pose as an global tough guy, but it looks like he's too scared to face protesters in London", the group Stand Up to Trump declared in a statement, alluding to the US president's reported plans to steer clear of the streets of London.

Mr. Trump arrived from Brussels on Thursday at Stansted Airport, north of London, before boarding his Marine One helicopter for the short flight to Winfield House, the U.S. Ambassador's residence in the center of the British capital.

Trump had been reacting to recent fractions within the Cabinet over Brexit.

Nona Hurkmans, one of the activists behind the infantile inflatable of Trump, said the balloon was a fair response to Trump's own behavior and downplayed claims that Trump deserved more respect.

On the planned protests, the ambassador said that Trump appreciated free speech and dismissed as "irrelevant" a giant balloon of Trump depicted as a crying baby in nappies which will fly next to the British parliament on Friday.

In Brussels, Mr Trump and Prime Minister Theresa May had the chance to speak to each other ahead of his visit.

Rarely has a foreign leader been so mocked on an official visit - London's mayor, a Muslim who has challenged Mr. Trump's world view - okayed the balloon, which is an apt symbol of Mr. Trump's tempestuous relationship with Britain, traditionally the United States' closest ally.

United Nations criticizes Israeli closure of Gaza border crossing
Some seventeen people were by Israeli gunfire, according to AFP citing Gaza's health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qodra. Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman also warned that Israel could punish Gaza even further.

Trump and his wife Melania are expected to fly by helicopter the USA ambassador's residence in Regents Park before heading to the new USA embassy for a meet and greet.

She said: "There is no stronger alliance than that of our special relationship with the USA and there will be no alliance more important in the years ahead".

"As two nations, we are safer, more prosperous and more creative when we work together and I am looking forward to this week's important discussions", May said in a statement late Wednesday.

Trump will be holding talks at that time with May at Chequers, the 16th-century manor house outside London that serves as her official country retreat.

The menu for the dinner at Blenheim Palace includes Scottish salmon, English Hereford beef filet and vegetables, and strawberries and clotted cream ice cream.

Trump will then go on to meet the Queen at Windsor Castle.

The pair will discuss relations with Russia, Brexit and trade ties, Downing Street officials said, after Trump recently slapped tariffs on European Union steel and aluminum imports.

During the dinner the Countess of Wessex's Orchestra will perform "a series of classic British and American hits" and the Royal regiment of Scotland will "pipe the President out at the end".
