Ian Wright Risks Knuckle Sandwich In On-Air Row With Roy Keane

Roy Keane and Ian Wright were involved in an angry and frank exchange of views on ITV after England lost 2-1 to Croatia in their World Cup semi-final on Wednesday night. I didn't mind you being happy but you got carried away, planning the final and the parades.

England were knocked out of the tournament by Croatia after their European rivals fought back from 1-0 down to win in extra-time.

Another viewer simply said "Roy Keane is more orange than my orange" while holding the fruit next to his TV.

Former Republic of Ireland captain Keane accused Wright of "embarrassing" himself after the former Arsenal striker appeared to mock Keane's Cork accent.

"Before the game, all the talk was about the final".

That caution proved to well founded as Mario Mandzukic's extra-time victor fired Croatia into Sunday's final against France as England's expense in a tense semi-final in Moscow, with Keane biding his time before revisiting his previous discussion with Wright. "Everyone was talking about the final, football's coming home".

Didier Deschamps' side will now face the victor of Wednesday's tie between England and Croatia in Moscow . They worked in '98 and we worked today, we reached out target to get to the final.

Wright, sat alongside fellow ex-England internationals Gary Neville and Lee Dixon, fired back: "Why shouldn't we get excited about it?"

The Irish pundit, not known for his sympathetic outlook, told Wright - who missed out on the 1994 World Cup finals when England failed to qualify - that he has "no idea what it's like to get to a final".

However, he was interrupted by Wright, who insisted: "We wasn't talking about the final, we were just having a laugh with ya". You needed a reality check.

"The whole yesterday and today they were talking about the final the final the final", Keane began.

"People weren't even expecting us to get to the semi-final, why couldn't we have got excited about being there?"

He added: "You are a grown man, you have played the game". You take it one game at a time. You know how hard it is to get to these finals or even get to the World Cup.
