Green Day's American Idiot Threatens UK Charts Ahead Of Trump Visit

Now a social-media campaign has launched pleading Brits to troll Trump (and British politician Nigel Farage) by getting Green Day's "American Idiot" to No. 1 on the United Kingdom charts by the time Trump gets there.

"American Idiot" is Amazon U.K.'s best-selling song at the moment, and if it's going to top the Official Charts list in the next few days, it will have to unseat another older song that has become relevant.

The campaign, cheekily named "Make "American Idiot" Great Again", seems to have been in the works for a while, with its Facebook page amassing more than 21,000 "likes".

The 'Get American Idiot to No.1 for Trump's UK Visit' organisers said they've rallied more than 20,000 supporters because it's "hilarious".

Some seventeen people were by Israeli gunfire, according to AFP citing Gaza's health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qodra. Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman also warned that Israel could punish Gaza even further.

The song has strong political roots and was originally written in part about President George W. Bush.

In related news, fans were able to bring back Green Day's "American Idiot" back in charts. The last one I remember was in 2008, when a campaign to make a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" number one the week of Christmas resulted in three versions of the song landing in the top 40 (including the numbers one and two slots).

So far the push is working - it is now sitting at number 18 thanks to the help of protesters sharing the #MAIGA (Make American Idiot Great Again) message on social media. After reports emerged indicating that Trump had gifted Kim Jong Un with a copy of Elton John's song "Rocket Man", Kaine joked that the North Korean leader sent back a copy of "American Idiot".
