Zsa Zsa dies two weeks after winning title

Zsa Zsa - who's namesake is Zsa Zsa Gabor - had entered the World's Ugliest Dog competition before, but 2018 was her year.

According to the Today show, Brainard drove more than 30 hours from Anoka, Minnesota to San Francisco to enroll Zsa Zsa in the contest, as Zsa Zsa herself was rescued from a puppy mill after Brainaird found her on PetFinder.com.

Zsa Zsa, who made global headlines when she won the World's Ugliest Dog competition in San Francisco less about two weeks ago, made headlines again with news of her death.

"I'm in shock still", Brainard told CNN sister network HLN.

In both knockout games so far, they've progressed via a penalty shootout after 120-minute slogs against Denmark and then Russian Federation .

Just over two weeks after she was crowned the World's Ugliest Dog, Zsa Zsa, an English bulldog with a penchant for pink and a perpetually lolling tongue, has died. "It's probably going to be the same with her passing".

The world's ugliest dog, Zsa Zsa, has passed away, Today reports.

She was laid to rest by owners Megan and Jesse Brainard and 15-month-old daughter Mareslie at the family home. Her hanging tongue and crooked teeth are the product of a pronounced underbite - Brainard told Today that small children often gave Zsa Zsa's tongue a handshake. "She never really showed much excitement, but yes, she was definitely living it up after she won", Ms Brainard said.

Zsa Zsa's body was returned home and the family held a special farewell ceremony.
