More boys carried out in Thailand cave rescue

The third phase of the operation to begin in "20 hours".

Nine people remained trapped in the cave, including the team's coach, after four boys were rescued on Sunday, the first day of the rescue operation.

Four more young football players were rescued Monday from a flooded cave on day two of a unsafe rescue mission that so far has been an outrageous success.

Writing in elegant Thai script, the boys urged their parents not to worry, adding that they hoped they wouldn't get too much homework after being rescued and couldn't wait to eat their favourite foods again.

But he could not confirm if all five would come out today. Ninety divers are involved in the rescue.

How are the boys being rescued?

There are now five members of the Wild Boar football team now left in the cave.

British divers discovered the 13, huddled on a muddy bank in a partly flooded chamber deep several kilometres inside the complex, on Monday last week.

That sense of accomplishment was also reflected in the message posted Monday night on the Thai Navy SEALS's Facebook page announcing the latest rescues.

Authorities then struggled to determine the best way to save the "Wild Boars", with the group stuck on a shelf above the floodwaters in pitch darkness. Monsoon flooding cut off their escape and prevented rescuers from finding them for nearly 10 days.

But with oxygen levels inside dropping to unsafe lows and the prospect of heavy rain flooding the area completely, authorities decided they had to move quickly and take the group out through the water-filled tunnels. He's been watching the operations closely and says he knows some of the elite divers who have been brought in to help with the operation.

Will the US Senate vote for Trump's Supreme Court nominee?
If you're going to do something risky in this emergency situation, it should be something that might actually make a difference. On Monday, Trump phoned Justice Anthony Kennedy to inform him that his former law clerk would be nominated to fill his seat.

Multiple calls to senior government officials and military personnel leading the operation to rescue the members of the youth soccer team rang unanswered Monday evening.

The eighth boy has now emerged from the cave where a soccer team and their coach have been trapped in Thailand.

A team of eighteen diving experts, including foreign and Thai citizens, began rescue operations on Sunday and managed to free four boys from the cave.

Each had to wear an oxygen mask to enable normal breathing, authorities said. Days after the stranded team was found, a former diver in the Thai SEAL unit died after volunteering to enter the caves and place air tanks along the path.

There was no immediate word on their conditions. Narongsak said experts told him the new rain could shrink the unflooded space where the boys are sheltering to 108 square feet.

Pad Krapao is a basil rice meal with stir-fried pork or chicken, topped with a fried egg. Relatives were able to see them through a glass partition. Thai navy SEALs and a medic who had been stationed with the boys for days, preparing them for their dive, were brought out of the cave soon after.

All those rescued from the Luang Khun Nam Nang Non cave are to be flown or transported by ambulance to the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital. "But they still need to be kept away from their parents and others due to fear about infection", he said. More than 1000 journalists from across the world have descended on northern Thailand to report the story.

"We've used all the oxygen", Osatanakorn told reporters.

The condition of the boys and rescuers is unknown at this time.
