Manchester City sign Riyad Mahrez for reported 67 million Euros

The deal going through ends a tricky saga that saw Mahrez go on strike to try to force through a move to the Etihad Stadium back in January.

Mahrez returned to the fold under Claude Puel on February 9 to enjoy another impressive individual season for the Foxes, and he has now been granted his wish of joining up with Pep Guardiola for the start of the new season.

Riyad Mahrez has finally completed his £60m club record move to Manchester City, 160 days after Pep Guardiola's January bid was rejected by Leicester.

In the four-and-a-half years since Riyad signed for the Foxes, he has played his way into the hearts of all Leicester City supporters.

After helping them win promotion to the Premier League, he then helped them win the English top flight, scoring 17 goals in 37 games as the won the title in 2015-16.

City's director of football Txiki Begiristain said Mahrez's attacking qualities would add even more of a cutting edge to a side which already has an abundance of talent such as Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero.

"Watching them from afar has been a pleasure". When combined with his creativity and eye for goal, Mahrez is one of the most potent attacking players in the Premier League at his best.

City have always been in pursuit of Mahrez, having seen a cash-plus-player offer of £65m for the 27-year-old rejected in January, with Leicester demanding £80m to let him go in the middle of the season.

Only Tottenham's Christian Eriksen (214) and Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha (234) attempted more dribbles than his 176 last season.

'I think we can be successful over the coming years and I believe my own game can develop under Pep's management'.
