Liverpool eyeing up a move for Xherdan Shaqiri

A deal for the Lyon captain may yet be resurrected after France's World Cup campaign, however.

A move to Anfield would make Shaqiri the Reds' third signing of the summer following the arrival of midfielders Fabinho and Isaac Christie-Davies.

Fekir was on the brink of moving to Merseyside this time last month but a deal fell through at the last minute when concerns were raised about the Frenchman's injury history.

Liverpool have opened talks for Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri as they look to trigger his £13.5 million relegation release clause.

He is now on holiday after representing Switzerland at the World Cup, helping them to the last 16 where they were beaten by Sweden.

George Clooney 'injured in bike crash' overseas
Clooney left the hospital at 10 a.m. local time, after being escorted there by ambulance and receiving medical attention. A hospital official confirmed to NBC that his injuries were not very bad, so the 57-year-old got discharged pretty fast.

Shaqiri arrived at Stoke three years ago but has openly admitted he wants to play elsewhere after the club were relegated at the end of last season.

What's clear as well is that he would be brought in as back-up to Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, rather than a starter.

Following their elimination at the hands of Sweden last week, Shaqiri hinted that his new club would be revealed soon and the Telegraph reports that Liverpool have now entered into negotiations with Stoke.

Shaqiri's career makes for impressive reading despite the recent relegation with Stoke, with stints at Bayern Munich and Inter Milan displaying the huge potential the 5'7 winger possessed earlier in his playing days.

That means if Liverpool do sign the Swiss, there's every chance Wilson will stay put for the 2018/19 season.
