Thai Cave Rescue: Divers Make Final Push to Save Remaining Boys, Coach

Ambulances drove toward a helipad, where a helicopter was seen taking off shortly after to the cheers of the crowd below.

The members of the "Wild Boars" team, aged between 12 and 16, were guided to safety through the twisting, submerged passages of the Tham Luang cave by a team of global expert divers flanked by Thai Navy SEALs over two days in a meticulously planned operation.

All preparations, including replacing the oxygen cylinders positioned along the route out in the cave, take at least 20 hours, he said. Medics appeared to remove one person on a stretcher but hid the person's identity behind multiple white umbrellas.

Elon Musk hoped to save the young soccer team trapped in a northern Thailand cave, over the weekend building a rescue submarine that he thought could act as an escape pod for the children and their coach.

Some family members have been allowed to visit the boys in hospital, but are only allowed to observe them from behind a glass window.

The chief the rescue mission said they are being kept apart from relatives because of infection concerns, Reuters reports.

Jesada Chokdumrongsuk said that the boys are "healthy and smiling", he added: "the kids are footballers so they have high immune systems".

"Today we might have to wait longer, but it will be worth the wait", he added.

However, scattered monsoon rains continued to risk percolating through the limestone cave walls to flood the tunnels with fast-flowing water.

He wrote: "Since I can not in all conscience champion these proposals, I have sadly concluded that I must go". The trouble is that I have practised the words over the weekend and find that they stick in the throat.

Reuters reported that eight players have been rescued in unsafe attempts by a world-class worldwide team of divers.

"Today is 10 July 2018. From what I've seen in the clip, they did look skinny", he said.

As an global coalition of divers continued to rescue a Thai soccer team and their coach from a cave Monday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk was trying to help in his own inimitable way. A massive global search operation was launched and it took 10 days to locate the boys, who had taken shelter on a dry slope, deep in the complex.

The boys' nightmare experience - trapped in claustrophobic darkness by rising waters - resonated across the globe, riveting people both in Thailand and internationally who anxiously watched the news coming from this town along the border with Myanmar.

Four of the trapped Thai cave boys were rescued over the weekend, and on Monday, four more were transported to the hospital.

Sunday's mission involved 13 foreign divers and five Thai navy SEALs.

Two of the boys are now being treated for minor lung infections.

The plan is "set for four people", Osatanakorn said.

A massive worldwide effort involving more than 100 divers and rescue workers brought the first eight boys out through winding and partly-submerged passageways on Sunday and Monday, four a day. It is rainy season in Thailand at the moment, with torrential downpours that appear out of nowhere dominating the weather patterns. Other divers were on guard along the unsafe first kilometer of the passageway.
