LeBron officially signs contract with Lakers

This was also the last time the Lakers brought back the NBA Championship to the Staples Center and the city of Los Angeles, something which James will be looking to do many times for the team over the next four years.

LeBron James made his seismic move to the Los Angeles Lakers official on Monday when the three-time National Basketball Association champion posted a photo of himself smiling alongside his freshly-signed four-year, US$154 million contract.

The club announced late Monday afternoon that James has put pen to paper on the reported four-year, $154 million deal, just as James' representation, Klutch Sports Group, tweeted an image of James, agent Rich Paul and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka confirming the news.

The four-time MVP victor has played in the past eight NBA Finals with the Heat and the Cavs, winning three titles during that period. "When LeBron James - a perennial NBA MVP and champion who is playing at the most astonishing levels of his career - chooses to join the Lakers, it serves as the ultimate validation for what we are building here".

He said: "He loves to compete and is an awesome leader who is about winning and making sure that his teammates are successful".

Many NBA fans have known for months, nearly a year, that LeBron would be joining the Lakers this summer.

Trump admin won't meet deadline to reunite separated families
Pacific Time on Tuesday to hear the Trump administration's final list of "groups of parents that will fall into category where it is impossible to reunite by tomorrow".

And we, happily, all know how that turned out.

"It's a big step closer to returning the Lakers to the postseason and the NBA Finals".

Lakers coach Luke Walton reportedly was scheduled to meet Monday with James' former coach, Tyronn Lue, at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas to learn more about coaching the future Hall of Famer.

This marks the first time James will play for a team in the hotly contested Western Conference, which includes heavyweight teams such as the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets.

The Lakers already have begun assembling a revamped team around James by acquiring Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee and Lance Stephenson in free agency while retaining guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
