"I'll show him!" - France's Giroud aims to prove Thierry Henry wrong

Deschamps and Belgium coach Roberto Martinez will have a tactical duel on the sidelines of the pitch.

For France, who have reached this stage five times before, a win will take them to their third World Cup final - they lost to Germany in 2006 after a World Cup win at home eight years before that. France and Belgium will face each other on July 10 in Saint Petersburg for the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup semi-final football match. Of course, it is a hard situation, it really is not easy for him.

"It's a group of people who share a vision of making Belgian football proud and achieving something important and these players have done that".

"He has given so much to the France team and we have got a lot of respect for what he has done".

Giroud jokes Thierry Henry has chosen the wrong camp ahead of France v Belgium.

"He's given the team the desire to attack", French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet said of Henry's influence on the Belgian team.

"Life can be like that sometimes".

That's why I feel that as good as the Paris Saint-Germain star is, Belgium can find a way to stop him. "On the personal front it is with great pleasure that I'm going to see him tomorrow".

Gazza's message for Southgate and his England squad
Southgate is concerned about the demands of the tournament on his players. "We looked like we controlled the game". England beat Croatia 5-1 at Wembley in the last meeting between the two countries in September 2009.

Henry had little previous coaching experience and the president said he had "probably chosen the right solution" by taking the job of an assistant. A former English Premier League manager, Martinez wanted Henry to not only teach Belgium's players the finer points of the game but, perhaps more importantly, he wanted him to talk about winning with a team that had been weighed down by expectations.

There is a tendency to attribute a team's success in worldwide football to a reformation with the starting point being when the team reached its nadir and the relative height of an global success being the ending point, the journey in between serving to fit the renaissance narrative. Lukaku is very determined and headstrong, but his coach will regularly take him to task, always asking for more, even demanding that Lukaku impresses him specifically.

Not particularly noticeable during games, Henry is rarely seen next to Martinez or his No 2 Graham Jones in the technical area.

For Belgium, Romelu Lukaku has arguably been the best centre-forward at the tournament. The Manchester United striker has scored four goals in four matches, but it was his barnstorming run at the Brazil defence to set up Kevin De Bruyne's goal that will be remembered from their 2-1 quarter-final victory.

"We had to believe and we know how talented we are as a squad", he said. A crucial victor against Japan demonstrates the danger he can provide, and earned him not only a place in Roberto Martinez's line-up but also our combined XI.

"I think Griezmann has all the quality to overcome Thierry Henry, as Mbappe has, too", Trezeguet said.

Giroud, who like Henry was an Arsenal forward until he joined Chelsea past year, wishes Henry were on the French staff. "We're ready to go to war with him". But we can't be envious. "It doesn't shock me at all".
