About 20 injured in South Africa charter plane crash

"Seen on Sunday morning at Pretoria's Wonderboom Airport‚ ex Rovos Air Convair 340 ZS-BRV".

At least 19 people have been injured in a plane crash near the city of Pretoria in South Africa.

A charter aircraft crashed in Kameeldrift on Tuesday afternoon.

The plane crash near Moloto Road which runs alongside Wonderboom airport but it remains unclear what caused the crash or what type of aircraft it is.

ER24 says the passenger was declared dead on the scene.

"There are critical patients‚" Loubser said.

Spokesperson Russel Meiring says five ER24 services and others are working to extinguish the fire which broke out after the crash.

"At this stage, we can confirm that crew members are attending to the scene of a crash", he said.

Once treated, the patients will be transported, as well as airlifted by the ER24 medical helicopter, to nearby hospitals.

He said: "Initial reports show that approximately 20 people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical. I saw it coming at a low level, trying to turn towards the runway".
