Brock Lesnar confronts UFC Champion Daniel Cormier, announces return to MMA

During the UFC 226 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White took questions from reporters.

So "DC" will move on quite possibly the biggest fight of his career - and he's had some big ones - yet the specter of a trilogy match with Jones will probably still hang over the ultra-competitive Cormier's head until he retires, which he's teased doing soon.

Stipe Miocic during the UFC 226 ceremonial weigh-in event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Friday, July 6, 2018.

Lesnar called out former UFC champion Stipe Miocic and co-main event participant Francis Ngannou as "sh**", before offering to take on Cormier inside of the cage at a future date. Cormier becomes just the second man in UFC history to hold two belts simultaneously.

"I walked in the building and watched the heavyweight disaster from the beginning", Lesnar said. However, the bout was pulled from the card after Holloway experienced concussion symptoms during fight week.

The only times Cormier has even looked vulnerable were the two times he lost to Jones, though one was overturned to a no-contest because of a positive drug test.

But even then, Cormier is right to point out that he's fought guys with similar reach advantages.

He said: "Let me tell you something".

'I'm going to do what I have to do. Lesnar eventually got on the microphone and put Cormier on notice after taking a shot at the other UFC Heavyweights.

"We approach each game similarly, but Russian Federation in Moscow would be an incredible game to be involved in". Henderson was the only player to miss when England beat Colombia on penalties in the last 16.

The elite college wrestler made two Olympic teams before transitioning to mixed martial arts and dominating the competition as a heavyweight. It was the most consecutive title defenses in UFC heavyweight history.

Cormier elected to drop to light heavyweight only because his friend Cain Velasquez held the UFC heavyweight belt at the time. This was the right fight for him, in that, If you think about his career, he steps down from heavyweight to go to light heavyweight because his friend is a heavyweight.

"Not having to cut any weight is very pleasant", Cormier said with a laugh. "I'm not going to fight him if he's not clean". Light heavyweight Khalil Rountree kicked off the PPV card with a surprising first-round stoppage of Gokhan Saki, a heralded Dutch kickboxer in his third pro MMA fight. Miocic was the more technical boxer.

"It's another fight for me", he said. "I'm excited. I love being champ".

"So I'd say 'one of the greatest of all time, ' which isn't too shabby to say but [it's] hard to say the greatest".

"Hey Brock, get out of my Octagon", Cormier said.

The Vegas bookies, though, still have Miocic as the prohibitive favourite going into Saturday's big fight.

"That's fine", Miocic retorted.
