Trump defends Jim Jordan amid allegations of sex abuse on wrestling team

A source in Jordan's office told CNN that it will contact Capitol Police about one alleged victim's emails to the congressman that were vaguely threatening because of the amount of them.

Jordan was ensnared in controversy earlier this week when former Ohio State wrestlers alleged sexual misconduct by team doctor Richard Strauss and said Jordan, who was assistant wrestling coach for eight years at OSU at the time of the abuse, knew and did not try to stop it. Jordan denies seeing, knowing or hearing about any abuse by Strauss, who died in 2005.

"He'd even make comments, 'This guy better not touch me, '" Yetts said. "We knew of no abuse".

"We knew of no abuse". "If we had, we'd have reported it".

Dailey corroborated the account of one of those wrestlers, Dunyasha Yetts, who told NBC News that Yetts had protested to Jordan and head coach Russ Hellickson after Strauss tried to pull down his wrestling shorts when Yetts went to see him for a thumb injury. Jordan has not directly expressed interest in the job, but support from fellow conservatives should he decide to run could frustrate possible bids in the next Congress by Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La.

"Coach Jordan knew what was going on, 100 percent", Mr. Yetts said.

Kathleen Trafford is an attorney with the Porter Wright law firm. He said he's willing to meet with investigators, but his office had no record of any meeting requests.

Limitations to the study include that the women sampled were highly-educated and not geographically diverse. The Canadian task force does note that HPV testing may be recommended once more research is available.

The university has rightfully initiated a full investigation into the matter.

A partner with Porter Wright Morris & Arthur said the investigative team had in fact contacted Jordan about an interview by email and phone. He said he hadn't personally talked to DiSabato since late March or April.

Before meeting with university officials, he said, he had contacted Mr. Jordan, with whom he said he spoke regularly. "Things he said are just not true".

The video was produced in June by former OSU wrester Mike DiSabato's company Combat Athlete Coalition, he told CNN.

"Jim Jordan is one of the most outstanding people I've met since I've been in Washington", Trump continued.

"Congressman Jordan never saw any abuse, never heard about any abuse and never had any abuse reported to him during his time as a coach at Ohio State", the spokesman, Ian Fury, said in a statement. DiSabato described it as an attempt to "intimidate and retaliate" against him by posting a mugshot of him and suggesting that a local news station look into his background. According to their reports, he was touching them inappropriately and according to recent reports, Jim Jordan, the assistant coach, who had a locker right next to Straus', knew everything about it and helped the university cover it up.

DiSabato told CNN that Strauss would go out of his way to take multiple showers with athletes every day in different venues around Ohio State. "It was very common knowledge in the locker room that if you went to Dr. Strauss for anything, you would have to pull your trousers down".
