Trump’s former personal lawyer says he’ll put family first

President Trump's longtime lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen signaled in a new interview a willingness to cooperate with federal prosecutors, even if doing so undercuts the interests of the president. "I will not be a punching bag as part of anyone's defense strategy, I am not a villain in any story and won't allow others to try to depict me in that way", he told Stephanopoulos. He also said that his wife, children and the country have his first loyalty- not Donald Trump.

Michael Cohen, former personal lawyer and confidante for President Donald Trump, exits the United States District Court Southern District of New York on May 30, 2018 in New York City.

"I want to answer. But for now I can't comment further on advice of my counsel".

Cohen's home and offices were raided by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in April, after a referral from Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating matters related to Russian Federation.

Michael Cohen tweeted a picture of himself sitting for an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on Sunday night, adding, "My silence is broken!" The lawyer is expected to break his silence in an interview with Good Morning America.
