Indore: BJP leader Sanjeev Mishra on Sunday announced a bounty of Rs 5 lakh for beheading Mandsaur rape accused.

Earlier, the two accused - Irfan alias Bhaiyu (20) and Asif (24) - were arrested in connection with the case and booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In a shocking incident, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Madhya Pradesh asked the parents of a minor rape victim to express gratitude to the local MP for visiting them. A video of the 29 June meeting purportedly showed the MLA telling the victim's parents that they should "thank" the MP for visiting them. "She is too traumatised even to talk", another doctor said. "The Congress is running out of issues and is creating a hue and cry by doctoring the video", he alleged.

Singh said thousands of people held street protests in about eight cities in the region, many seeking the death penalty for the accused.
