Virat Kohli says missing county games a blessing in disguise

Virat Kohli says missing county games a blessing in disguise

"For us as a team, this is a very exciting time".

India skipper Virat Kohli on Friday said that he is fully fit and absolutely ready to go before departing for the two-month long United Kingdom tour beginning from July 3.

"I wanted to be 100 percent fit for the tour and wanted to go there fresh. Although not intended but this is the best thing to have happened", he added. Not just Kohli, team India will be heading to England on a confident note after a superb South Africa tour where they thrashed hosts in the limited over series. He expressed displeasure to the repeated reference of the 2014 tour. "I have played ODI cricket when there was only one new ball allowed and reverse swing used to be a massive factor in the latter half of the innings, which I think as a batsman was more challenging", he said. "It is the same strategy that we had during the South Africa tour, the Sri Lanka tour before that and the home season".

"Strategy will remain the same that it was in all the previous series". And that is to win, to do well as a team.

Asked about his targets this time, he said: "I was asked this on the last tour of England as well".

"I think it is ideal as far as the preparation is concerned because by the time Test matches begin, the boys would have already spent one month on the road", Shastri said. I've had good practice & played 6-7 sessions in Mumbai. "I know what I have to face out there in the middle", the skipper gave a pointed reply. They play two T20s against Ireland in Dublin before playing the T20 and ODI series against England. "It has made me excited to go back on to the pitch again", said Kohli. The neck is okay.

Kohli successfully passed the yo-yo test and proved his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru before leaving for England with the rest of the team. The present Indian captain revealed having a break from cricket refreshed him for the upcoming challenged.

Japan come back twice to take a point against Senegal
Japan twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Senegal in their World Cup Group H encounter on Sunday. Inui then struck the bar from distance after the Senegal defence went AWOL.

India skipper Virat Kohli has a point to prove, after the nightmarish 2014 Test series.

England batsmen are now dominating Australia in the ongoing five-match One Day International series and they have cruised to a 4-0 lead.

"By the time the Test series arrives, we won't feel like we are playing an away series", Kohli said.

"You have a certain ability but if you are fit then you can enhance it".

"The captain leads from the front, the selectors and the entire team management is on the same page", he declared.

"We are a team that wants to travel well". He said a lot has changed, urging people to move on. "It is not a question of where we are playing".

Echoing the statements of the Virat, head coach Ravi Shastri said: "Our endeavour in every series will be the same. We shouldn't have a problem operating with Duke ball", he added.
