Banksy print worth $45K stolen from art exhibit, caught on camera

Lazarides declared the exhibition "The Art of Banksy (Banksy's Art") the largest collection of works by this artist ever to be offered for sale, which is estimated at $35 million.

The apparently burgled work is a print of a piece known as Trolley Hunters, which had been featured in The Art of Banksy, an unauthorized exhibit of the street artist's work.

The 2007 "Trolley Hunters" print depicts three c rouching hunters, one aiming a spear at a grouping of shopping carts.

The print had gone missing during the exhibit's setup, a coordinator of the exhibit said in a Thursday news conference, the CBC reported.

"Due to the investigation, we will not be commenting further at this time", said Starvox Exhibits president Corey Ross in an emailed statement.

A spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service confirmed it was investigating the theft and break and enter.

Italy bans more migrant rescue boats
It was carrying 106 of the 629 migrants it rescued from the Mediterranean, according to the Italian news agency Ansa. Spanish officials plan to do a case-by-case analysis of the migrants' requests for asylum.

Then, in the surveillance video released Thursday by Toronto police, the person ducks into the camera's blind spot and emerges with artwork in hand.

The originals tend to be graffiti on building facades, seen for free by passers-by, rather than pictures hung from studio walls. He picks one up, gingerly, holding it away from his body, and makes his way through the two galleries and out the door where he came in. There are no other people and no security guards in the video.

And Toronto police are taking the matter very seriously and are looking for suspects.

The exhibit runs until July 11. In March, a woman was seen on video making off with a stone from Yoko Ono's installation "The Riverbed" at the Gardiner Museum on which the artist had written "Love Yourself", valued at $22,000.

The theft took place just after 5am on Sunday, before the Art of Banksy exhibition's Wednesday opening.
