Salah nearly 100% likely to face Uruguay

Salah nearly 100% likely to face Uruguay

Uruguay have been tipped as favourites to finish top of the group which also includes Saudi Arabia and hosts Russian Federation.

While Egypt may not be realistically aiming to win the entire thing, there will be a sense among their fans that progress from the group should be the minimum, but can Uruguay really measure their credentials and their own agenda against them?

After Russia's dominance, it is up to these two teams on how they can secure three points to keep their hopes alive of staying in the top two of the table.

The big news ahead of this game, though, is that Mo Salah will indeed be fit to start against the Uruguayans, handing the Pharaohs a much-needed boost.

Uruguay captain Diego Godin has talked down any suggestion that his side will take a physical approach to prevent Egypt's key attacking threat Mohamed Salah from causing trouble in the World Cup opener tomorrow afternoon.

Having played throughout the qualification stages, El Hadary's experience should play a part of how he can stop the potent offence that Uruguay possess.

Uruguay were the first World Cup winners, in 1930.

One half of Uruguay's strike force, Edinson Cavani has been performing at a high level in France's Ligue 1.

However, the 20-year-old's hopes received a setback after missing England's first training session in Russian Federation with a knee knock.

Salah is regarded as a contender for the Ballon d'Or for his spectacular debut season at Anfield, alongside Argentina's Lionel Messi, Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar of Brazil.

"We want him to be involved because he worked so hard to get this team, with his team mates of course, to come to this tournament".

With Egypt lacking the superstar quality at the back, Cavani may be finding it easy to beat them to try and rack up the goals.

"Salah is decisive but our preparation does not depend on the status of one player", Godin added.

The Liverpool striker broke the English Premier League record in goals scored with 32 goals in a season and also helped the team reach the UEFA Champions League final.

This is Héctor Cúper's first World Cup as a manager.

It is possible Cuper was engaging in a little kidology, although the benefits of that would seem unclear: Nobody has long to shine at a World Cup and, to do that, Egypt need Salah.

After being dismissed in 2014's World Cup for his third biting offence, this time on Giorgio Chiellini, a disgraced Suarez once again found himself in the media's firing line. He has the pace to beat defences and the incredible dexterity to finish with both feet that leave opponents baffled.
