US, Mexico and Canada to host 2026 World Cup finals

It comes after the United States, Canada and Mexico won the right to host the 2026 tournament, beating Morocco. Those numbers are crucial to courting votes of Federation Internationale de Football Association member nations, which get a share of the body's revenues.

The public vote took place in Moscow, where the 2018 soccer championship begins on Thursday.

The AI bot predictsEngland will make it to the quarter finals where they will be beaten by Germany, who are second favourites to win, according to the machine learning software. "Canada is a good tourist destination". And given that the 2026 tournament will be the first to host 48 teams-16 more than traditionally, infrastructure was a crucial factor.

Bid officials have said they plan to stage games in all three host nations on the opening day, with the main opening match likely to be held in either Mexico City or Los Angeles.

The quadrennial month-long event will see 32 nations, divided into eight groups, competing in 64 games over 32 days and fighting it out for the coveted trophy.

The United States was defeated in the final round of voting to determine the 2022 World Cup host.

The joint North American bid was considered a heavy favorite from the outset and earned high marks from FIFA's bid evaluators because it will, in theory, require less construction and lower costs than the Moroccan bid, which carried an estimated price tag above $15 billion.

Arguably the greatest strength of the North American bid is the vast array of already-built stadiums available to organisers, ranging from iconic World Cup venues such as Mexico City's Azteca Stadium to state-of-the-art large-capacity arenas.

"This will be a World Cup that shapes football for generations to come", said Cordeiro.
