‘Rocky’ actor Sylvester Stallone being probed for sexual assault

The Los Angeles District Attorney's office is reviewing a criminal case from the Santa Monica Police Department involving Sylvester Stallone to determine whether charges will be filed, a spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

It's unclear what the case details, but TMZ reported in December that a woman had filed a police report with the Santa Monica police, accusing the now-71-year-old actor of raping her in 1990.

The Santa Monica PD said it has turned over all interviews and notes to a special Los Angeles D.A. task force. Stallone's spokesperson denied the allegation on the actor's behalf at the time. At the time, though, lawyer Marty Singer said Stallone had a brief relationship with the woman while shooting a movie in Israel in 1987.

"It's not appropriate to try to ruin someone by doing this", he said. But the revised law applies only to crimes committed after January 1, 2017, and offenses for which the statute of limitations had not expired by that date.

"We are looking into it and will gather information and whatever we discover will be passed to the district attorney".

Stallone skyrocketed to fame in 1976 with his Oscar-winning boxing film Rocky and went on to become one of Hollywood's biggest action stars.
