Fred injures ankle at Brazil training session

Fred is on the cusp of a move to Manchester United, who announced earlier this week they had reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign the 25-year-old for a fee reported to exceed £50million.

However, the £52 million midfielder was pictured yesterday with his ankle on ice and the severity of the injury he has suffered is so far unknown.

The Manchester United man's injury was described by the Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lamas as a "trauma in his ankle".

Fred has made eight appearances for Brazil and made head coach Tite's final 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation.

However, Fred has remained with the Brazil squad and looks set to take part in the World Cup in some capacity.

The Paris-Saint Germain man came off the bench to score in Brazil's 2-0 win over Croatia on Sunday for his first goal since February.

Trump economic adviser Kudlow to stay in hospital after heart attack
The economist and former television host will be back to work at the White House "soon", Sanders said. Kudlow, who is 70 years old, had just joined the Trump administration in March.

Elsewhere in Tite's side, Neymar will start his first global game since November on Sunday.

Midfielder Renato Augusto has been sidelined since last week due to pain in his right knee.

But Marcelo told reporters: "This is the World Cup".

Brazil kick off their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on Sunday night, before facing Costa Rica and Serbia over the course of June in what is a noticeably competitive Group E.

Brazil's two-week training camp in London ends on Friday, when the team travels to Austria for the friendly.
