Trump takes credit for Sanford loss in SC primary

In races where candidates don't secure more than 50 percent of votes cast, runoff elections of the top two vote-getters will be held June 26.

Sanford is in a tight race for the Republican nomination in South Carolina's 1st District on Tuesday.

Congressman Justin Amash called Sanford one of the most "principled" conservatives in Congress.

He's been known as South Carolina's political comeback kid, but his luck just ran out. Two Republican statewide officeholders, Attorney General Alan Wilson and Secretary of State Mark Hammond, also face primary challengers. Sanford endorsed Ted Cruz (R-TX) during the 2016 presidential primary.

McMaster also received an the President's endorsement...who says the governor "is doing a fantastic job". Her campaign is airing a television advertisement that refers to Sanford as a "Never Trumper" and features video clips of Sanford's Trump criticisms.

Just hours before the polls closed in South Carolina, Trump tweeted, "Mark Sanford has been very unhelpful to me in my campaign to MAGA".

"He is MIA and nothing but trouble", Trump tweeted. Now that he's lost, his words also serve as a call for his fellow anti-Trump GOPers to keep fighting the good fight.

Wolves complete loan signing of Raul Jimenez from Benfica
Jimenez has scored 14 goals in 62 appearances for Mexico and will be hoping to add to his tally in Russian Federation this summer. Jimenez previously played for boyhood side Club America before moving to Atletico Madrid for the 2014-15 season.

Sanford's marriage ended but his political career didn't. After the Access Hollywood tape dropped, in which Trump bragged about grabbing women "by the pussy", Roby said she could no longer vote for Trump.

In Democratic primaries - particularly three key House races in Virginia - the theme of this spring's primaries continued: Female candidates are winning at unprecedented rates and often by large margins.

In the 10th Congressional District, incumbent Rep Barbara Comstock is widely viewed as one of the nation's most-vulnerable Republicans.

Rosen is vacating her seat in the Third Congressional District, and it's widely expected that philanthropist Susie Lee will easily land the Democratic nomination for that district. There is no Democratic primary for this race. She needed to win a majority of the vote to avoid a run-off.

In the most dramatic result in primaries across five states Tuesday, Sanford was the second incumbent House Republican to lose a primary this year - the latest victim of intense divisions among the GOP in the Trump era. On Tuesday, advocates of ranked-choice voting put the question back on the ballot after Republicans in the state legislature repealed the ranked-choice method voters approved in 2016. In Virginia, Republicans went with a candidate who was so over-the-top Trumpy that he wound up being fired from the president's campaign. Stewart had accused the party of inadequately defending the candidate after the release of a tape where Trump bragged about groping women.

As a candidate for governor in 2017, Stewart spoke out against removing Confederate monuments, including the Robert E. Lee statue that prompted a deadly protest in Charlottesville past year. Pete Domenici and Michelle Laxalt, the daughter of former Nevada governor and senator Paul Laxalt.
