Democrats want criminal investigation of EPA's Scott Pruitt

A Washington Post report that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt spent $1,560 on 12 customized fountain pens from a Washington jewelry store sufficiently peeved Toledo Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur that she inserted an amendment into a spending bill to limit Pruitt's pen costs.

Pruitt has also faced ethics questions over his use of agency employees to book personal travel, attempt to purchase a used mattress from the Trump International Hotel, and to run personal errands, including a city-wide search for a particular brand of moisturizer. Trump has repeatedly expressed his support for Pruitt, who has vigorously pursued Trump's campaign promises to reduce environmental regulations and increase fossil fuel production.

"Scott Pruitt is doing a great job within the walls of the EPA", Trump told reporters at the White House. Outside he's being attacked very viciously by the press. Connolly is a senior member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and serves as the ranking Democrat on the Subcommittee on Government Operations.

Apple to officially bless USB-C with 2019 iPhone
Except for being a common standard, USB-C has no other advantage over Lightning connector in a smartphone. A supply-chain rumor claims that Apple will be switching to USB-C ports on its 2019 iPhone lineup.

You can hear Pruitt in the video (via NBC) commenting on how "here we are talking about free speech, religious liberty, and folks won't let you engage in it at times" as the protester is escorted out.

Writing to FBI Director Christopher A. Wray and acting assistant attorney general John Cronan, the lawmakers said Pruitt had used his office for "the personal gain of himself and his family, in violation of federal law".

"H$3 is actions related to his wife's employment and the quid-pro-quo condo situation with industry lobbyists may have crossed a line into criminal conduct punishable by fines or even by time in prison", the lawmakers wrote in the letter. Meanwhile, Pruitt is continuing to radically reshape the EPA.

Asked about the report, Pruitt did not directly comment on whether he sought a franchise for his wife, according to an excerpt of an interview with Nexstar Media Group posted on Twitter on Wednesday.
