Twitter CEO shamed for eating Chick-fil-A during Pride Month

Then he unsurprisingly makes everyone hate his response.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey apologized Saturday after gay-rights activists and journalists shamed him for posting a receipt showing that he had eaten on Chick-fil-A.

Unfortunately, it did not take long for the hate to pour in.

She spoke at a "Chick-fil-A Leadercast event" in 2012 at the University of Texas at Austin while she was listed as an "anchor and special correspondent for CNN."

Though Chick-fil-A - whose Christian values include closing on Sundays - has since tried to avoid affiliating itself with political causes, some saw Dorsey's dining experience as a problematic endorsement, Fox News reports.

Others joined in with tweets calling for Dorsey to "delete this or follow up with how much free advertising you're going to give GLAAD", the advocacy group, or asking "I wonder how LGBTQ employees of Twitter feel about this post?"

Critics immediately seized on Dorsey for supporting Chick-fil-A, whose CEO has come under fire for his views on gay marriage, during Pride Month.

In response to O'Brien's tweet, Dorsey essentially apologized without actually apologizing.

Users were quick to criticize Dorsey's patronage of the restaurant whose CEO famously made comments that were interpreted as homophobic in 2012, sparking nationwide protests. I'm gay and I LOVE ChickfilA. "I'm gonna eat it anyway!" another person responded.

He was quickly reminded of the questionable nature of promoting Chick-fil-A during Pride Month.
