Rangers hope to sign Croatian defender Nikola Katic

According to the Scottish Sun, Steven Gerrard is hopeful of making the 21-year-old his first striker signing in charge of the Ibrox giants.

Gerrard feared he was set to lose out on the NK Slaven Belupo starlet as Russian outfit Spartak Moscow looked set to snap him up.

Part of the reason why Rangers gave Gerrard his first taste of management was because of the pulling power he would give them in the transfer market. It's one of the biggest clubs in Europe, in the world. "It is good to be here and this is a big step for me", he told RangersTV.

Rangers have been forced to clarify speculation over their new home kit after latest signing Nikola Katic was pictured in an unfamiliar club top.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is a big name in the world of football and the Gers are banking on his ability to attract players to Ibrox.

Earlier on Tuesday, Katic's agent Mladen Kliskinic dropped a major hint after taking to Facebook to post a picture taken outside the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance on Tuesday morning with the message: "ONE PLAYER, Medical test, 5 hours, All good".

Connor Goldson, a teammate of Knockaert at the south coast club, has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers this summer and it was reported last week that the two clubs had agreed a £3.5m deal.

The Light Blues have completed four deals already ahead of the new campaign as Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Jamie Murphy and Ovie Ejaria have signed on the dotted line.
