Global friendly match report Belgium v Costa Rica 11 June 2018

Romelu Lukaku scored twice as Belgium finished their World Cup warm-up schedule with a comfortable 4-1 win over Costa Rica in Brussels. Also on target were Dries Mertens and Michy Batshuayi after the visitors had taken a surprise 1-0 lead.

Navas then kept out Lukaku, who had an earlier penalty appeal rejected, before Jan Vertonghen's header was ruled out for offside.

Sky Sports News takes a look at how far England will have to travel for their group games at this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

Geancarlo Gonzalez produced a fine tackle to keep out Eden Hazard's shot and Dedryck Boyata glanced a set-piece wide from a promising position, but then came the sucker-punch as Bryan Ruiz produced a fine left-footed finish.

"I really enjoyed his performance".

Belgium then dominated the game, with Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne and Mertens a constant trouble to the Costa Rican defence.

The home side did take a lead into the break, however, thanks to Lukaku's volleyed finish from just outside the six-yard box to round off an impressive counter-attack.

Just before the break, Mertens turned provider for Lukaku, who volleyed in the Napoli striker's cross.

And Martinez said he was encouraged to see how his team reacted after going a goal down. "We are ready, ready for the World Cup", he said.

Costa Rica made five changes from the side that were beaten 2-0 by England last Thursday but that made little difference as another goal by Lukaku as well as one from Batshuayi sealed their fate.

Costa Rica play Serbia on Sunday in their Group E opener.

England's next port of call is the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium and they face a 556 mile-long trip to play Panama on June 24 at lunchtime.
