And now, with this, Land Rover has made it clear that the company will not manufacture models with low sales demand.

Jaguar Land Rover first announced its intention to begin production of the Discovery in Slovakia in 2016, but did not mention at the time that the process could involve the migration of the model's entire UK-based production line.

Britain's biggest vehicle manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover, is to transfer all production of its Land Rover Discovery model from the West Midlands to a plant in Slovakia, potentially putting hundreds of agency jobs at risk.

The move is likely to result in Britain's biggest vehicle maker cutting agency staff at the plant near Birmingham as part of a manufacturing shake-up which is due to take effect from early next year as the European site at Nitra comes on line.

After its makeover, the plant will produce the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. It will affect around a third of the 300-acre Solihull factory site.

JLR employs some 40,000 people in total making it the UK's biggest vehicle manufacturer in terms of both output and heads.

The announcement comes just two months after the company revealed it was axing 1,000 agency workers at Solihull after a slowdown in production.

Jaguar Land Rover will be moving all production of its Discovery SUV to Slovakia in 2019, making way for the redevelopment of its Solihull plant to create electric, petrol and diesel versions of its Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models.

The group saw pre-tax profit slump to £364million in the three months to March 31, down from £676million in the same period previous year.

Land Rover has discontinued the three-door Range Rover Evoque due to lacklustre sales.

In the United Kingdom, the company said it was "impacted by consumer uncertainty surrounding diesel models, Brexit and vehicle taxation".

As well as new manufacturing plants in China and South America, JLR has struck a deal with carmaker Magna Steyr to build the both its Jaguar E-Pace and the all-electric I-Pace models in Austria. It also has a factory in China and an assembly operation in India.

Bourdain said he really had no idea that anyone outside the world of chefs would even pay attention to his comments. According to Anthony's 83-year old mother, red tape is behind the delay in returning his body to the family.
