From Software shows off new samurai game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Unfortunately, the trailer Activision and FromSoftware showed during the Xbox event didn't provide a ton of detail about gameplay, other than there's loads of sword fighting, grappling hook acrobatics and some huge bosses.

Looks like the protagonist has been dismembered in his past and has had his limb replaced with a prosthetic, hence the name "Sekiro", meaning "one-armed wolf". You can check out the full trailer embedded above. Players may remember the phrase "Shadows Die Twice" from a 30-second teaser shown at The Game Awards 2017, which advertised FromSoftware's "new project".

Much like the developer's previous ventures like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, the new title is a third-person action game with RPG elements. We don't typically see as many characters and VO at once in Souls games, so I'm curious to see how (if) From goes all in on narrative this time around.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is scheduled for an early 2019 release. Pre-orders are available for the game now at select retailers for $59.99.

Pre-orders for Sekiro are now live, as is the website, though there's no sign of the Steam page just yet.
