Xherdan Shaqiri responds to Liverpool speculation

The Switzerland global has been linked with a cut-price summer move from Stoke with the former Bayern Munich winger available for just £12million, due to a clause in his contract, following the Potters relegation last season.

"And if players want to leave I will try and find the best solution to make that happen if that is the case".

But speaking to Swiss outlet Blick Sport while on global duty with the national team, Shaqiri was asked about the rumours surrounding his future.

When approached by an interviewer (via the Redmen TV, video above) who asked him about Liverpool, the 26-year-old winger responded by saying, 'The Anfield stadium is great, definitely'. "Why are you talking about Liverpool?".

Shaqiri started in Switzerland's 2-0 win over Japan on Friday - their final match before they kick-off their World Cup campaign.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be keen on adding competition to his squad and sees Shaqiri as an ideal candidate to back-up his lethal attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. 'I think my agents take care of my future. But it appears that Liverpool are leading the race to sign him with their interest going up after their move for Nabil Fekir was cancelled. I'm focussing on the national team right now.

Switzerland are in a group with Brazil, Serbia and Costa Rica and kick off their campaign against the five-time winners on Sunday June 17.
