According to White House statements, Trump last spoke to Putin on March 20.

"No matter what country has terrorists, we must strengthen our regional cooperation and not allow them to affect regional security", he told a press conference Friday, adding that the SCO bloc had stopped "hundreds" of terrorist acts. They didn't tell you that, did they?

However, having pulled out of the deal, the U.S. now says it will impose severe economic and trade sanctions on Iran. "They understand. They're trying to act like, "Well, we fought with you in the wars" but they don't mention the fact that they have trade barriers against our farmers, they don't mention the fact that they're charging nearly 300-per-cent tariffs".

Russian Federation joined the group in the 1990s after emerging from the wreckage of the Soviet Union, making it the G-8, but its armed intervention in its neighbor Ukraine in 2014 and seizure of the Crimean peninsula angered other major powers.

The SCO meets this year after Trump controversially pulled Washington out of the 2015 global pact with Iran that placed limits on its nuclear program in return for easing economic sanctions.
