Paddy Jackson joins Perpignan following release by Ulster

It looks like Paddy Jackson will be moving to France, as it was confirmed that the 26-year-old has signed a deal with French club Perpignan.

The club's sporting director Christian Lanta welcomed the player, describing Jackson as a "proven kicker" and a "talented playmaker" who would bring the benefit of his global experience to the club.

"Paddy Jackson, in the tradition of Irish 10s, knows how to bring his individual qualities to benefit the collective", said Christian Lanta, Perpignan sporting director.

Jackson has not played since having his contract revoked by Ulster and Ireland in 2016.

Perpignan won promotion to the Top 14 this season after four years in the second tier.

Jackson had previously been linked with Top 14 giants Clermont Auvergne and with Aviva Premiership side Sale Sharks.

Finally, Brive's new head coach Jeremy Davidson, persuaded him to join the French club, relegated from the French Top14 this season.

"Following a review, conducted in the aftermath of recent court proceedings, the Irish Rugby Football Union and Ulster Rugby have revoked the contracts of Patrick Jackson and Stuart Olding with immediate effect."
