Matthew Vaughn Plans ‘Kick-Ass’ Reboot & ‘Kingsman’ Spinoff, Launches Marv Studios

Kick-Ass and Kingsman filmmaker Matthew Vaughn of Marv Films is setting up Marv Studios, he has told United Kingdom movie magazine Empire.

The filmmaker is planning a reboot of the Kick-Ass series - and while he won't confirm which incarnation of the character it would involve, he does strongly hint that Patience Lee, an African-American single mother who's taken on the vigilante mantle, could be in the frame. But for those wanting hints of what's to come, Vaughn teased: "Look what Mark Millar is doing with the comic for clues". Also in discussion is a stand alone Hit-Girl feature.

Matthew Vaughn, director of Kick-Ass and the Kingsman films, is going all in on the franchises from comic creator Mark Millar.

Vaughn also directed and co-wrote Kingsman: The Secret Service, the 2014 action spy comedy about the recruitment of young Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton) into a secret spy organization. He's developing a Kingsman sequel, "the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship", which is meant to shoot back to back with a spinoff, Kingsman: The Great Game, chronicling the organization's exploits in the early 1900s. Vaughn confirmed to the outlet that those two movies will film back-to-back as well.

Vaughn noted that a Statesman spin-off film is on the way, focusing on the American counterpart to the Kingsman that first appeared in The Golden Circle previous year. An eight-hour Kingsman TV show is also on the way along with a Statesman movie revolving around the American agents introduced in 2017's The Golden Circle.

Finally, the Kingsman are likely also coming to the small screen. Let us know by dropping a line in the comments!
