Interpol Announce Their New Album ‘Marauder’ With The Characteristically Kinetic ‘The Rover’

So if you just want to know that Interpol is putting out a new album, here are the basics for squares: It's called Marauder, it's out August 24, the first single is called "The Rover" (listen here), and the whole shebang will be produced by Dave Fridmann, who's worked with bands like The Flaming Lips. The whole event is set to turn into a future music video.

Marauder will be the trio's first major release since 2014's El Pintor. Marauder is the result of the group's work with producer and mixer Dave Fridmann, who has contributed to records by Tame Impala, Flaming Lips, MGMT and others.

Accompanying the announcement is a single.

Banks adds that Marauder touches on "real things that are exciting and evocative to write about", adding that looking back, he "always felt autobiography was too small a thing" to reference in song. That's the guy that f-cks up friendships and does insane shit. "In a way, this album is like giving him a name and putting him to bed".

Listen below, where you can also livestream the press conference. Marauder releases 24 August via Matador. Interpol will return to NY to perform "The Rover" on Colbert tomorrow.
