'Rampaging' man shot by police in Berlin Cathedral

Images on social media show armed officers arriving at the cathedral and sealing it off to the public.

Two ambulances were parked at its entrance, a popular tourist attraction in the German capital.

Armed police have cordoned off Berlin Cathedral after an officer shot a "rampaging" man inside the building on Sunday afternoon.

Police said in a tweet: "Shortly after 4pm (2pm GMT) police shot at a rampaging man at Berlin cathedral".

Senator Ron Johnson wrote on Twitter after the bill signing. "Thousands of terminally ill Americans will finally have the help, the hope and the fighting chance".

According to the Bild newspaper, one of those injured was another police officer.

The circumstances of the incident remain largely unclear.

"Based on what we know so far, we have no information that the suspect in any way had a terrorist or Islamist motive", a police spokesman said.

Some witnesses were taken away to receive psychological counselling.
