Both body styles are going to be offered as pure electric models part of the company's new Maserati Blue lineup that will also encompass the aforementioned Quattroporte and Levante. They'll also be based on a lightweight modular aluminum platform. As part of parent company Fiat Chrysler's five-year plan announced Friday, Maserati has confirmed it'll bring the Alfieri into production sometime before 2022. Taking aim at Tesla and the Porsche Mission E, Maserati's EVs will utilize an 800-volt battery and three-motor all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.

The goal for Maserati Blue is to offer battery-electric versions of four cars: the Alfieri, a convertible version called the Alfieri Cabrio, the Quattroporte and the Levante.

First shown off as a concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the Alfieri is a 2+2 grand tourer originally scheduled for a 2016 street date which was then delayed to 2018. Maserati Head Timothy Kuniskis states that the electric Alfieri Coupe and Cabriolet will boast a 2 second 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint and a max speed estimated at more than 300 km/h (186 mph).

Contrasting UN Security Council measures on Gaza both fail
Kuwait's Ambassador Mansour al-Otaibi said the USA veto "will increase the sentiment of despair among the Palestinians". She called it "grossly one-sided" in not mentioning Hamas, the militant group that controls Gaza.

When reached for further information, a spokesperson told The Drive, "At this time, we are not providing any additional information or comments beyond what has already been shared today by Mr. [Sergio] Marchionne and Mr. [Tim] Kuniskis".

There's no name yet for the forthcoming midsize utility vehicle, which Maserati says will be offered in hybrid and PHEV configurations. It will be built upon a lightweight platform with 50/50 weight distribution, offering "superior ride & handling" and best-in-class power-to-weight ratio. Expect the new model to replace the GranTurismo and GranCabrio as the halo models in Maser's lineup.
