Frank Lampard should be named Derby County manager this week

Frank Lampard is on the verge of becoming Derby County's manager after lengthy negotiations.

The London club have established a fairly well-known link with Eredivisie club Vitesse, who they've loaned a whole host of players to over the last few years, including Nemanja Matic, Patrick van Aanholt, Dominic Solanke and Izzy Brown.

Lampard, who has seen his former global teammate Steven Gerrard take on his first managerial role with Glasgow Rangers this summer, has been looking for the right opportunity to get into coaching and Derby are confident they have done enough to persuade him to join them.

England have discussed prospect of racism in Russian Federation , says Ashley Young
I don't think so, but that's the world he is going to live in for a long time so he will have to get used to it". Young's inclusion comes despite him not being involved in the squad during the qualifying campaign.

Lampard, 39, has often spoken of his desire to venture into management since retiring from football in February previous year.

Lampard - capped 106 times by England - enjoyed a trophy-laden playing career winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League. "I am ambitious. I will carry on speaking to them when I get home", Lampard told BT Sport. It's a big club, with a big tradition and a big history, which I really like.

Derby, who finished sixth in the Championship before losing to Fulham in the play-off semi-finals, have been without a manager since Gary Rowett left to take over at Stoke last week.
