Australia's Minjee Lee birdies 18th to win LPGA Volvik

However, showing her huge temperament, she bounced back with another birdie on the 72nd hole of the tournament to nail down the victory with a score of 16 under par.

After a good drive, her second shot came closer to trouble than much of the gallery probably realized. "I overcut it a little bit, but it finished out in a good position".

Korean-Australian golfer Lee Min-jee won the LPGA Volvik Championship in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Sunday.

Lee gifted herself the ultimate birthday present - her fourth LPGA victory - after a tidy up-and-down for birdie.

With her victory, Lee ranks fourth among Aussie winners on tour, behind Webb (41 titles), Jan Stephenson (16) and Rachel Hetherington (eight).

Lee began in fine style with three birdies in the first five holes as many in the chasing pack loomed. The 18th hole was 470 yards Sunday. There were 44 birdies there in the final round. Then she hit a provisional after a wayward tee shot on 17, but her original ball was OK in the rough, and she parred that hole too. I had a lot of good finishes, even last year and beginning of this year.

Heading into the final round, Lee led by two, but her play was anything but defensive.

"I felt I had to make it", she said.

I.K. Kim finished in second at 15-under-par while Moriya Jutanugarn was third a further shot behind. Lewis is playing four months' pregnant with her first child.

Lee also made a clutch par save at the 15th to stay in front.

The Red Sonja star showed off her giant baby belly on Instagram , along with the caption " family getting larger ". She is now Wednesday to Italian TV producer Mattia Dessì, and the pair has been together since 2006.

But she then added, ominously for the field: "I know I'm striking it well and putting it well".

"So you've just got to get runs like I did there at the end of the day and just keep hanging around and post a number and see what happens".

"Next week is going to be a totally different week, so I'll just try my best".

Lee had gone 38 consecutive holes without a bogey before making one on the par-4 17th. So Lee needed a birdie to win on 18.

Australian Su Oh carded a 68 and American Lindy Duncan a 69 to share fourth on 275.

Lewis admitted she was exhausted after the stop-and-start day, but said she didn't think her pregnancy prevented her from being competitive. "She played great all day and played solid".

So Salas (70) had to wait out the delay before returning to make her routine putt.

Lee competed wearing her women's ECCO BIOM® G 2, a design which features an athletic, ECCO HYDROMAX treated ECCO Racer Yak leather upper, as well as a technical insole system and anatomical last.

The LPGA has had a different victor in each of its 13 tournaments this year. The US Women's Open starts on Thursday at Shoal Creek.
