Rockets Vs Warriors: Chris Paul’s Game 6 Status In Question

He was literally standing in his way in the third quarter of Thursday's Western Conference finals Game 5 when Paul stepped up with the buzzer-beating, game-tying 3-pointer.

Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said his star's spirits "aren't great" after Game 5 and that Paul is "worried" - which was an early indication that the injury was more than just a ding. "He wanted to be out there, and for sure he's anxious and all that".

Paul has since been ruled out for Saturday's Game 6, and it's unclear if he'll re-appear in the series.

The Warriors led by one going into the 4th quarter, but Eric Gordon scored 10 of his 24 points off the bench for Houston in the final frame to help the Rockets turn the tide.

"We had to rely on our defense once again", Harden said. He had been playing well before that, scoring 18 of his 20 points in the second half and even shimmying in front of the shimmy master himself, Stephen Curry.

But Gordon came up with his steal when Green lost control in the lane and added two free throws with 2.4 seconds left to put it away. "It's more about chemistry and looking for me, and I've got to be prepared to knock down the shot". James Harden was held to 5-of-21 shooting from the field and 0-of-11 from beyond the arc, and the visiting team still wasn't able to capitalize.

Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant is congratulated by head coach Steve Kerr left after their win over the Houston Rockets in Game 1 of the NBA basketball Western Conference Finals Monday

'Who cares, ' he said. 'I'm just missing shots, but we're winning'.

The Golden State Warriors need to win Games 6 and 7 in order to return to The Finals, but they remain confident about their chances. A bruised left knee kept Andre Iguodala out for the second straight game, and Kevon Looney started in his place.

It's Houston's second straight win in the series after snapping Golden State's National Basketball Association playoff-record, 16-game home winning streak with a 95-92 victory on Wednesday.

Paul arguably has been the Rockets' best player against the Warriors in the conference finals.

Curry could do little to stop the ball sailing into the basket and in celebration, Paul taunted his opponent by doing the two-time MVP winner's own shimmy move.
