Police Chief Says Body Found Likely That Of Missing Boy

Marshburn says he avoids an aggressive approach he says police take.

After four to five hours speaking with Glass, Mashburn says he and Ward talked and were "90-percent positive" they'd find Lucas' body.

The district attorney released a statement Friday. She is being held on a $250, 000 Bond, according to the Sedgwick County Booking report.

After an exhaustive investigation and search of more than three months, how did this investigator and Glass arrive at the scene of the remains?

The Eagle also reported that police had been called to the child's home multiple times for incidents involving violence between Glass and the boy's father.

Ramsay couldn't say if anyone else might be arrested or questioned in the case since it is still an active investigation.

An autopsy to be performed Friday will confirm the body's identity but "it is likely Lucas", Wichita police chief Gordon Ramsay said at a news conference. He said anyone with information related to the case should call police homicide detectives at 316-268-4181.

Ramsay said that the 5-year-old's stepmother, Emily Glass, led a private investigator named David Marshburn to the remains, which were hidden under a bridge on a gravel road in Sedgwick, about 20 miles north of Wichita.

Hours after a body believed to be that of missing 5-year-old Wichita boy Lucas Hernandez is found in southeast Harvey County, the woman police have identified as his stepmother is booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.

Glass is being held on suspicion of interfering with a law enforcement officer and obstruction.

As of 10 p.m., Law enforcement officials have not confirmed whether there's been any arrests made in connection with the search and subsequent discovery of a body believed to be that of 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez. No children have been reported missing in Harvey County, he said.

Marshburn and Ward gave Lucas' mother and grandmother a hug in the meeting they had before leaving Wichita to continue their work in other cases. She told police she discovered he was missing after she woke up from a nap.

"There is no way we can tell who it is because of the deteriorated state", Gay said.
