'Mowgli' Trailer: Andy Serkis Tells a Darker Version of 'The Jungle Book'

The first trailer for Mowgli, the gritty adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book is finally here. Here we have Christian Bale as Bagheera the panther, Serkis as Baloo the Bear, Cate Blanchett as Kaa the snake, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan the tiger, Naomie Harris as Nisha the female wolf.

Helmed by Andy Serkis, Mowgli features motion capture performances from a number of big stars.

Along with the trailer, a behind-the-scenes featurette sees Serkis outlining his creative vision for the film.

From the very beginning, it's pretty clear that Christian Bale was a flawless casting choice for the black panther Bagheera.

Rohan Chand, the child actor who is playing the title character of Mowgli - already has the internet buzzing and as expected comparisons have geun between him and the kid in Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book - Neel Sethi. The human cast of Mowgli includes Matthew Rhys as Lockwood and Freida Pinto as Messua.

Warner Bros. has their own take on The Jungle Book with Mowgli.

At one point, Warner Bros. was racing to get its Jungle Book adaptation into theaters before Disney's, aware that audiences might balk at two separate adaptations hitting screens in close succession.
