New Xbox Adaptive Controller Brings Games to People with Limited Mobility

Microsoft has launched an Adaptive Controller made to streamline gaming for people with special needs. Accessible in the not so distant future, the new controller is about interminably configurable for gamers with constrained portability.

The possibilities for the upcoming Xbox Adaptive Controller are truly endless, mentioned attachments including pedals for foot control of both auto and characters, and even compatibility with a Quadstick - a mouth-controlled joystick that measures air passing through a tube and relative positioning in order to activate response on the console end. Our CEO, Satya Nadella, has spoken about how essential it is that we push the boundaries of what technology can do in a concerted effort to be inclusive of everyone around the world.

"These standards have the most profound effect on the way we are building items that are intended for everybody", Spencer proceeded. "We have been on a voyage of the comprehensive plan, which celebrates and draws motivation from individuals who are regularly ignored in the run of the mill configuration process". The Adaptive Controller is a foot-long rectangular device using a d-pad, menu and home buttons, the Xbox house icon and 2 extra-large black buttons which may be mapped to some objective.

A Right Thumbstick USB input port is the sole right-side connector. External inputs can be connected via the series of audio jacks provided in the controller.

The Xbox Adaptive Controller, which will go on sale later this year, can be used out of the box or customised with third-party add-ons. The key to making the controller work is its versatility. The associations included exposing the Xbox Adaptive Controller incorporate The AbleGamers Charity, The Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Craig Hospital, SpecialEffect, and Warfighter Engaged.

The controller's inclusive design approach is for gamers who might not be able to reach all the bumpers and triggers, or hold a controller for an extended period of time, for example.

I can customize how I interface with the Xbox Adaptive Controller to whatever I want. There, the head of Xbox explained the simple - yet meaningful - goal of this controller.
